Ribs, Etc.
Rating: Barely acceptable
Roswell Road, Atlanta, GA
An A-frame structure houses this licensed rib place. The reviewer was invited to seat himself and chose one among many a greasy varnished plywood tables set with napkin dispenser and catsup. A speciality chopped pork sandwich appeared on the menu including a choice of slaw, fries or potato salad. The sandwich arrived promptly, served on bright red Melmac plate with two pickle slices on the side, along with French fries. The fries were crisply done and variously cut, and were the high point of this meal, after discounting a piece of bubble packaging which had evidently fallen into the fryer (the possibility that it was in fact tripe was not explored by this reviewer). The sandwich was drenched in a sticky tomato-based sauce and included smallish gobs of fat, of a sort that might pass without objection in a serving of ribs (hence, the danger of trying a barbecue sandwich at a rib place). The the upper half of the sesame bun was sliced in half, but not the lower, earning the sandwich a low mark for engineering and ease of handling. The sandwich was, overall, edible though unwieldy and uncouth. A moist wipe, packaged condom-style, was available for a quick though odorous cleanup.
